On Sat, 9/28 we are celebrating our 50th anniversary 10 am-1 pm. Join us to celebrate this milestone and encourage anyone interested in CATEC, or any alumni you know, to enjoy our ribbon-cutting ceremony, food, live DJ, tours, local business partners, and raffle prizes.

We've had another fun week at CATEC. EMT students dissected organs, Elec students worked on wiring, Carp students worked on tables, and our SCA met to discuss our 50th anniversary celebration.

CATEC will be taking student photos on Thursday, September 26th for our PowerSchool and building use. Instructors will provide students times and additional information. See Mrs. Jay in the Career and Counseling Corner if you have any questions.

This is a friendly reminder that CATEC students should be turning in their Beginning of Year Forms, and, if a student wants to park in the CATEC parking lot, they need to submit all relevant paperwork to Ms. Wood in the front office. Please provide these docs ASAP!

Friendly reminder that CATEC High School programs will be closed on Monday, September 2, 2024. Enjoy your long weekend and we'll see our staff and students back on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

NPR just published a story about high school student engagement, citing research that says:
-Only 41% of secondary school age students who do not intend on attending college find school to be engaging.
-Non-college bound students are less likely to say they have a teacher who makes them feel excited about their futures.
-Just 23% of high schoolers say they hear "a lot" about apprenticeships, certifications, and vocational training.
At CATEC we're excelling at reaching these students, working to engage our learners, give them hope for their futures, and educate them on their training opportunities. Read the story here: https://www.npr.org/2024/08/29/nx-s1-5090895/teens-school-college-poll

All CATEC students should have received a packet of Beginning of Year forms by now. Please complete these forms and return them to your instructor. Here is a link to the forms on our website: https://www.catec.org/page/high-school. Scroll down to access them.

We had our 2nd first day of school as we welcomed our ACPS students to the building. It was great to see our classrooms full again and to see our students doing what CATEC is known for, hands-on learning. @CvilleSchools @k12albemarle @cvilleschools @albemarlecountypublicschools
