GoogleDocs and Entrepreneurship

We have had a great deal of excitement with the use of GoogleDocs at CATEC this first quarter with the implementation of our entrepreneurship training to over 170 students at the school. Through ten, 2-hour sessions, students are developing a business plan with the guidance of their instructors and a teacher from the local community college.

As we began planning during the summer on how we would use technology as part of the plan development. We decided on the use of GoogleDocs as the container for the work. All of our students (over 350) have a GoogleDoc account and email and are able to access their plan each time they have the class, or simply on their own at home if they have internet access. The dog can never eat the homework. (just the mouse :)

Cloud computing is very exciting and we hope to invite others to view the work of the students to truly ues the collaborative features of the software. Our end goal will be to select the top projects in the early spring and provide them extra assistance if they decide to launch their business as well as some seed money to start.
