Entrepreneurial Bootcamp for High School

Entrepreneurial Bootcamp

Many of you who live in the Charlottesville area may be aware of the Guest Lecture Series that we broadcast on Channel 14 (Public Access TV). This is a monthly series where individuals from the community come speak to students about careers in particular industries. (This month's focus is on Construction and Architecture- February 26/27).

In March, we will change the focus slightly for the GLS and have a panel discussion about Entrepreneurship. If you are not aware, CATEC is taking a major plunge into this area, having all of our students being exposed to "formation of ideas, business planning, and creating real-life businesses that potentially live and breathe".

We are looking for interested parties to come and speak to our students about what it takes to open up your own business as well as the pitfalls that one may discover. (if you are interested, let us know).

Lastly, we are exploring the thought of an Entrepreneurial Bootcamp for this spring/summer. The idea is that 20 of our students will have a facilitator to guide them through the actual creation of a business with their ideas, energy, and innovative thoughts. We have a non-profit Foundation group at the school that is willing to offer up seed money to get the businesses started. We are looking for mentors to assist and guide them along the way.

We need your thoughts and ideas.
